Pauline Manship Natti

(1913 - 1988)

The beloved eldest child of Paul and Isabel, Pauline Francis Manship was born on December 22nd 1913, and attended college at Bryn Mawr, in Pennsylvania. Pauline was a gifted seamstress, and worked at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. She was known for her artistry, and designed and tailored clothing for many women in New York society. At a party at the home of artists Virgian Lee Burton and George Dimetrious, Pauline met, and eventually married, a local Lanesville boy, Ilmari “Jimo” Natti, whose family was connected to many of the artist community on Cape Ann. Pauline was a striking woman, who was a force in the community, ensuring the legacy her father built at Starfield. Pauline and Jimo had two children, Erik Natti in 1940 Isabel Natti in 1946.
