Our Mission
The Manship Artists Residency’s mission is to give artists and the creative spirit time and space to flourish for the benefit of our community.
Our vision is to promote the creative process and the power of art by cultivating individual and collaborative creativity inspired by the legacy of sculptor Paul Manship, whose summer residence and studio continues to serve as a permanent home for art-making as an international artist residency amid its magical natural setting.
We value the creative process, science and nature, environmental conservation, global exchange, equal opportunity and access, civic engagement, collaboration, community partnerships, trust and integrity, and the positive impact of art on our world and society. These values guide our mission, vision, and actions.
Diversity Statement
At the Manship Artists Residency, we value a culture of inclusion based on diversity, equity and belonging.
Manship Artists Residency provides a diverse, equitable and inclusive living and work environment, one where all employees, participants, guests, and volunteers, whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation or identity, religion, socioeconomic status, education or disability, are celebrated, feel valued, and are respected. We are committed to a non-discriminatory approach to provide equal opportunity for employment and advancement throughout our organization and programs.
We actively ensure that all voices are valued and heard, knowing that when we embrace diverse life experiences, perspectives and heritages we build stronger, more vibrant and resilient communities. We are committed to modeling diversity and inclusion, maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all, and providing an informed, authentic leadership for cultural equity, one where everyone belongs.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Our Green Mission is to reduce our carbon output and harm to the environment when supporting artists in residence, preserving or renewing our buildings, and caring for this land.
When making choices about where to focus our sustainability efforts, we base our decision using our core values: the creative process, science and nature, environmental conservation, global exchange, equal opportunity and access, civic engagement, collaboration, community partnerships, trust and integrity, and the positive impact of art on our world and society.
