Manship Artists Residency has been strategically tackling 40 years of neglected repairs and maintenance at the Manship property since 2017. Our nonprofit is very lean and frugal in our operations, though we are proud to say our impact has been significant in a very short time. Projects we have undertaken include: renovation of the Manship residence (2017-2019), asbestos removal from basement (2018), restoration of the Palladian-style window in the Studio Barn (2021-22), restoration of the barn cupola (2022), renovation of the small studio (2022-2023), recreation of the espaliered pear gazebo (2022-2023), restoration of the South- and West-facing barn windows (2023-2024).

Fortunately Manship Artists Residency has secured additional, targeted funding each year for these important capital improvements. The sustainable growth that Manship Artists Residency has demonstrated over the past seven years would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of our community and the valuable support of almost 200 volunteers who have helped with this project. Manship Artists Residency’s annual operating budget rose from $101,000 to $150,000 in FY21-22, to $233,800 in FY22-23, and to $349,975 in FY23-24 as a result of implementing innovative, new public programs coupled with critical repairs on site.

Manship Artists Residency is poised for growth. We have expert advisors who are assisting us as we plan for the further renovation of the site, and have added new talent and experience to the Board as well as staff. We are entering this next phase of our organizational development with confidence as we continue to revitalize this historic site.
