As part of one of Manship’s educational initiatives, Gloucester art teachers visited the Bubble Factory in Essex, MA during a professional development day in November 2022. As part of the workshop, the teachers learned more about this local business and resource and also created their own blown Swedish Bowl.
Manship Artists Residency has been organizing professional development programs for the Gloucester Art Teachers since February 2020. Describing the session at the Essex Bubble Factory, one teacher shared:
“This professional development was by far one of the most valuable experiences I have had while working at the Gloucester Public Schools. It not only introduced me to an art medium that I had no prior experience in, but in speaking with the instructors I also learned so much about HOW to go about majoring in this medium…. During this time we were able to share ideas and materials (with our fellow teachers), something that we never have time for. This time together is so important and benefits our students more than us as educators.” – Lorrinda Cerrutti, Gloucester High School Visual Arts Teacher
