Marine debris weaving workshop

April 17 - April 19

Weaving Connections for a temporary, public sculpture:

Marine debris weaving with fiber artist and sculptor Rebecca McGee Tuck

Fiber artist and sculptor Rebecca McGee Tuck will lead participants in a free two-hour, small-weaving workshop using a traditional twining technique. Participants’ work will be incorporated into Tuck’s forthcoming outdoor installation in summer 2025. The individual small weaving pieces will be joined together to form the larger, outdoor, public sculpture. Together we will work with marine debris, rope, and line that was collected along the Massachusetts shorelines—transforming harmful ocean debris into art that will become a powerful visual and helping to promote ocean advocacy. This collaborative, art-making workshop is open to participants ages 11 and up. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Up to 15 participants. Offered in collaboration with the Lanesville Community Center. The exact timing will be announced in January 2025. Photo credit: Carla McElroy Photography
