The Manship Artists Residency Board of Trustees has an interest in the intersection of art and science, most especially as it relates to our marine environment. Several past residents’ work creates a bridge between the two-disciplines, or demonstrates how these separate fields are actually aligned. To share this knowledge, Manship Artists Residency partnered with Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) to present an artists-in-residence panel discussion on the convergence of Art and Science in February 2020.

Featuring Manship Artists Kim Jermain and Dan Jay, the program introduced the audience to ways in which the practice and discipline of scientists and artists is congruous and how artists can apply their skills and expertise to help advance science and the creative play of making and experimentation can lead to breakthroughs in both disciplines.
