Joel Janowitz has exhibited widely. In 2022 he had solo exhibitions at Gallery Kayafas in Boston and at three Provincetown venues: the Mary Heaton Vorse House, the Provincetown Art Museum (PAAM) – Joel Janowitz: Recent Gifts to the Permanent Collection, and at Schoolhouse Gallery. In 2021 he was included in the Minneapolis Institute of Art exhibition, The Contemporary Print. His work has been collected by the Whitney Museum, the Brooklyn Museum, Boston’s MFA, Harvard Art Museums, Yale University Art Gallery, and numerous other public institutions.
Janowitz was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in Painting in 2013 and he has received four Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowships in Painting, most recently in 2016.
