3rian King is a singer, songwriter, and playwright who explores themes of love, cultural mythology, sexuality, and identity in their work. Whoopi Goldberg once described King’s voice as the last sound she wanted to hear before sleep to ensure she had beautiful dreams. 3rian’s song “Cold Rain” was covered by New Orleans Soul Queen, Irma Thomas, on her Grammy-nominated CD “Simply Grand,” earning the track high praise in Rolling Stone, USA Today & The Village Voice. With neo-cabaret band, What Time Is It, Mr. Fox?, 3rian has released numerous albums and performed throughout the US at notable venues like Club Passim and Oberon in Boston; The Duplex, Dixon Place, The Stonewall, Joe’s Pub in NYC, and Irving Plaza for the notorious Stevie Nicks tribute “Night of A Thousand Stevies.” Their musical circus show about queer stereotypes, Gravitational Fool, premiered in the Afterglow Festival in Provincetown and performed throughout the Northeast, including the American Repertory Theater (ART) in Cambridge. For Afterglow and ART, 3rian co-created Do You Queer What I Queer? with non-binary artist Johnny Blazes. The two-person rock cabaret examines the differences and commonalities between two queers growing up ten years apart. 3rian and band In 2019, What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? enjoyed a sold-out run of Medusa, Reclaiming the Myth, an original feminist multimedia reimagining of her story for the Charles Hayden Planetarium in the Museum of Science, Boston. During the MARS residencies the team is adapting the play for a fully staged live-action theatre production.
